Wanshi Lotus Temple
Sources:2021-10-11

Wanshi Lotus Temple is located under the boulder of “A Thousand Scepters Facing Skywards”. It is said to have been built by the Chens of the Central Plains when they entered the island for development in Kaiyuan period of the Tang Dynasty. It is one of the earliest temples on Xiamen Island with a history of more than 1,000 years. Subsequently, after several ups and downs, it has been renovated for several times. The current premise was rebuilt by Venerable Hong Choon, President of the Singapore Buddhist Federation after Xiamen was opened to the outside world.

The gate of Wanshi Lotus Temple is a stone memorial archway, and the couplet on the archway “The sound of Amitabha was spread to the Egret Island (Xiamen). It has lived here for thousands of years, and inherited the fashion of Lushan Mountain”, was written by Venerable Hong Yi for Venerable Hui Quan to revive Wanshi Rock.
