Form: Paederia scandens (Lour.) Merr. is a perennial herbaceous vine in the Rubiaceae family.
The stems are 3-5 m long, glabrous or subglabrous. The base is woody and much branched. It has a foul odour when crushed.
Habit: By streams, rivers, roadsides, woods and shrubs, often climbing on other plants or rocks.
It prefers a warm, moist environment. It is found both at home and abroad.
Uses: The entire plant, as well as the roots and fruits, are used for medicinal purposes.
