Ginger Garden
Sources:2021-10-12

The Ginger Garden was built in 2015, covering an area of about 2 hectares. It is adjacent to the Flower Garden in the east, leaning against mountains and criss-crossed with quiet valleys, clear streams and wandering hiking trails.

Most of the Zingiberales plants are large perennial herbs, including more than 2,100 species belonging to 8 families, namely Musaceae, Zingiberaceae, Cannaceae, Heliconiaceae, Marantaceae, Strelitziaceae, Lowiaceae and Costaceae. More than 400 species and cultivars of Zingiberales plants settled in this area, including the unique Ravenala madagascariensis and Ensete glaucum, colorful Calathea roseopicta and Ctenanthe oppenheimiana ‘Quadrictor’, flamboyant Musa ornata and Hedychium coccineum, and exotic Heliconia rostrata and Musella lasiocarpa.

Zingiberales plants have both high ornamental and certain economic values. Zingiber officinale is a household seasoning food. Musa acuminata ‘Cavendish’ is one of the most important tropical fruits in the world. Amomum villosum, Alpinia oxyphylla, Curcuma longa, Myristica fragrans, Alpinia japonica and Curcuma aromatica are well-known medicinal plants.
